Hi parents!
I am a passionate, friendly and warm nanny living in the Newtown area. I have been a nanny for the last 4 years, working permanently for multiple families long term. Before becoming a nanny, I was working as a room leader educator in a childcare centre in Mosman and worked in the childcare industry for 5 years before becoming a nanny.
Tuesday’s have opened up in my schedule to meet new families.
Having worked in the early childhood industry, I take great responsibility in the care, safety and education of the children I take care of.
I am originally from England and have a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree. I love to nurture creativity, a love of nature and confidence in the children I work with. I have worked as an English teacher to children in China also and love working with children and families from all cultural backgrounds.
My other interests include fitness and health, painting and photography, cooking and walking my dog.
I have a current:

I recently finished working for a family that I had been working with for 4 years, where I looked after their two children. Here is the written reference they provided for me:
‘I am very pleased to provide this employment reference for Jess Lehane, who has worked as our family nanny since January 2022, caring for our two children two days per week. During this time, Jess has looked after our son, who is now nearly five years old, and our daughter, who is nearly three.
Jess is an exceptional caregiver. Both of our children genuinely love her (I do not use that word lightly). Jess has a rare ability to form deep, trusting and affectionate relationships with children, grounded in her calm temperament, empathy and attentiveness. Jess consistently responds to our children’s emotional and physical needs with patience and warmth, helping them feel loved and understood. Jess has always been very caring and supportive towards us as parents also.
Jess brings a lovely and spontaneous creativity to her days with the children. Jess is excellent at facilitating arts and crafts activities that are age-appropriate, engaging and open-ended, allowing the children to express themselves creatively whilst developing fine motor skills. Jess has a genuine love of nature, which she shares enthusiastically with the children. She regularly takes them to parks and green spaces, encouraging curiosity about the natural world: from collecting gumnuts, seeds and leaves to pointing out flowers and feathers. These experiences have fostered an interest in nature in both children.
Jess is also highly proficient at using public transport (including ferries, buses and the light rail) confidently and capably with young children and takes them on stimulating outings. She regularly takes our children to local and destination parks (often varying locations to keep experiences fresh and interesting), as well as to the museum, art gallery, beach, Darling Harbour for water play when it’s warm weather, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
The only reason our arrangement with Jess is coming to an end is due to a change in our logistical needs, because our son is starting school several suburbs away this year and we now require a nanny with their own car.
We look forward to keeping in touch with Jess and would recommend her to any family seeking a calm, caring, capable and deeply empathetic nanny.’
