Hi mums and dads! my name is Makenzi and I’m a 24-year-old completing my third year of a four year double degree in Arts and Primary Education at Monash University. I’ve already completed a Bachelor degree of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Swinburne and during this time I realized my passion is actually teaching young children. I love the early learning of young children and aspire to be the best example and teacher to all young children. I commenced my own studies at Firbank Grammar in the early learning centre and was a Firbank student right through until I completed year 12 in 2019. For the past three years I’ve been working for a family based in Glen Iris commencing when their young daughter was 10 months old as sadly her mum Amanda is a paraplegic after a tragic accident. My role included looking after Eadie from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm multiple days a week and ensuring her well being physically and assisting with her growth, learning and behavioral needs throughout the day. I also assisted around the home with any tasks required including cooking, washing, general tidying, running errands and providing support to Amanda when needed. I also casually assist a family with two primary school aged girls as both parents are busy working doctors. This role includes school drop offs, sometimes pick up’s and after school activities. I am a caring, responsible, thought-provoking, energetic, empathetic and passionate young woman who strives to teach and care for young children with their best interests always as the priority.
