Hi! My name is Orla, I’m a 26-year-old from Ireland currently living in Randwick. I have several years of experience working with children of all ages with a Masters in Primary Teaching, including tutoring and teaching experience with additional needs—particularly autism. I’m energetic and active, with a strong interest in sports, and have coached children at my local sports club back home. I hold an undergraduate degree in Music and Human Development and have been teaching piano to young kids for the past few years. I’m passionate about creating a fun, supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and feel safe!
I have over three years of experience teaching in a special education classroom, working closely with children with autism and a range of other learning difficulties. This role gave me valuable insight into supporting individual learning styles, developing tailored teaching strategies, and creating structured, nurturing environments. In addition to classroom teaching, I’ve also tutored children with autism and ADHD one-on-one, helping them build confidence and reach their academic goals through patient, consistent support.
How long have you been looking after children? I’ve been looking after children for over eight years, starting with family members and then moving on to more formal babysitting, progressing to my Masters in Primary Teaching where I have been teaching for the last 5 years. During this time, I’ve cared for children ranging from infants to early teens. What age am I most comfortable with? While I enjoy working with all age groups, I feel most comfortable with 3-12 year old. I love their curiosity, energy, and how quickly they learn and grow during that stage. What do you find most rewarding about childcare? What I find most rewarding is being part of a child’s development — whether it’s helping them learn a new skill playing piano or sport, watching their confidence grow, or simply knowing they feel safe and happy in my care. Building trust with both the child and their family is something I value deeply.
I have been tutoring for several years, with a strong passion for supporting student growth both academically and personally. My primary academic interests lie in music and the human sciences. I hold an undergraduate degree in Human Development—covering psychology, sociology, and philosophy—as well as music, and I have completed a Master’s in Primary Teaching. I am a fully qualified primary school teacher with three years of formal classroom experience. Before qualifying, I worked in a range of educational roles including substitute teacher, special needs assistant, and piano tutor. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of diverse learning needs and the ability to adapt my teaching style accordingly.
