I am a warm-natured, compassionate and nurturing individual who is highly experienced working with children in both an educational and home-care setting. This includes 6 years as a junior primary teacher and further years spent working independently as a nanny and support worker to children with special needs. In addition to primary school aged children, I have experience caring for infants from newborn-1 years of age, toddlers, teens and families with multiple children. Rest assured, the comfort and safety of your child/children is paramount when in my care and I will endeavour to make their time as enjoyable as possible when in my care. In my spare time I enjoy getting into nature; hiking, kayaking, gardening, and walking my dogs. I also enjoy creative pursuits such as crafts, knitting, woodwork and DIY projects.

"Sophie has been helping us out with our 1-year old over the past few months, and she has been wonderful! Sophie has been very attentive and caring, and also brings a lot of fun and energy to play time with our daughter. She is very creative and enthusiastic with her play activities, putting on funny voices when reading books and noticing cool objects in the garden to play with. My daughter really enjoyed playing with her! Sophie is also very safety conscious, and helped us to do some baby proofing of the house. We felt very comfortable with Sophie taking our daughter out for walks and little adventures. She also did some cleaning for us, which has been a great help. A huge thank you, Sophie!! "

Childcare Experience

I have cared for newborns through to young teenagers and find it easy to interact with children of all ages. I studied junior primary education at university and have worked as an education support officer and teacher. I have also babysat infants and have experience with nappy changing, bottle feeding, bathing, meal prep for older children. I have also been responsible for picking up children in my care from school/ childcare and bringing them home or taking them to extra curricular activities and then commencing night time routine which includes help with homework, dinner, bath and wind-down time before bed.

Tutoring Experience

I started tutoring when I was in university in 2010 studying a bachelor of junior primary education and bachelor of arts. My major was English literature and I am enthusiastic and experienced providing tuition across all areas of literacy.
