Hello, my name is Latecia and I am a student at flinders university, studying a bachelor of Inclusive and Specialised Education (Primary). I have lived experience of being a young carer for my sister who has special needs including Autism, Cornelia de Lange Syndrome and Epilepsy (along with many other troubles e.g hearing impairment, delayed development, reflux… the list goes on). I also help and regularly care for my toddler brothers aged 2 and 4. Apart from lived experience, I have been a nanny for a family for over a year, helping with school pick ups, fun and educational activities, homework assistance, behaviour management, morning and night routines as well as household chores. As the kids have gotten older and busier with school they are no longer needing me as often, therefore I now have some extra free time i’d love to fill! I am organised, caring, fun and educational when babysitting and love to engage children with a diverse range of creative activities as well as their daily needs. I have my WWCC, RRHAN-EC and First Aid/CPR and Epilepsy Essentials training completed. I can’t wait to hear from you soon!
My sister who i often care for has Cornelia de Lange syndrome, autism, epilepsy, hearing impairment, reflux, breathing difficulties. I also have experience in a special school through university placement.
I’ve been working with children from newborn to 12 years old for 4 years. I find the most rewarding thing is making connections, teaching them valuable lessons and having fun!
