Hello there prospective families! It’s lovely to meet you! I’m Sofia, a passionate, hard working, creative, and bubbly person who loves to create a safe space for young people to develop, learn, feel nurtured, and express themselves. I’ve been a nanny/babysitter for 12 + years now, having worked in Australia, England, the US, and locally as an au pair, nanny, tutor, and in child care programs. I have just finished studying my Bachelor of Fine Arts -Acting and now work in the creative arts sector. However I also have a degree in International Politics, working previously acrossnot-for-profits in the youth and social impact sector. I have a wealth of experience working with young children, teens, new borns, and everyone in between, and feel very comfortable and competent in this line of work. My creativity and love for the arts infuses my work, and I am passionate about creating a playful environment for children, whilst also having no issues with enforcing boundaries and discipline where needed. I love to keep active with children and enjoy getting out and about in nature, playgrounds, museums, and other activities to help enrich and vary our time together. For me, taking care of children is all about building a unique relationship with each where they feel supported, safe, and comfortable in being who they are. I am also very happy to clean and run errands around the home, and have a great passion for cooking (being Portuguese in heritage where food is centrepiece to everyday life). Special Needs Experience

I have worked with various children presenting on the autism spectrum, as well as experience in supporting children with Down syndrome, learning difficulties, and health issues (heart illness, severe allergic reactions, etc).

Childcare Experience

I have been working for over 12 + years in the child care space. I’ve fulfilled roles as a nanny and live in au pair in America and England, as well as locally here in Australia. I feel highly competent in this line of work, and love being able to nurture and foster unique relationships with children where they are free to express themselves in a safe space.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored primary and secondary school students on and off over the last decade. Having already a degree of International Politics under my belt, and currently studying another Bachelors, I have a real love for academics. I am particularly strong in the English, Social Studies, and humanities areas, but have also tutored maths and language (I speak Spanish, some Portuguese, and learnt Japanese for over 8 years).
