I have tutored for 14 years, on and off between full time primary school teaching. For most of my teaching career I have taught grades 5 and 6, though have taught all levels from prep-6. I know the Victorian Curriculum and how to teach it and have planned, prepared and taught it for a number of years in classrooms all around Melbournes South-East. I have privately tutored and prefer working one-to-one with children so that I can target their specific learning needs and direct the learning to suit ability level and learning style. I know how to assess student achievement in line with the Victorian Curriculum and interpret reporting in order to target specific learning needs. I like to familiarise parents/carers with the learning taking place and why certain areas may be targeted. It’s important parents/carers are given accurate, reliable information that is in (parent friendly terms) about their child’s ability, in order to offer their children the best learning outcomes.
