Hello parents and guardians, 👋🏽 I'm Hilmi, pronounced as 'heal-me,' hailing from vibrant Singapore! Fluent in both English and Malay, I am often described as someone who is kind and gives soft warm hugs by my kids back when I was teaching in Singapore. A bit about me: 🧸 - Eldest sibling of four (I've mastered the art of patience and nurturing from a young age). - I enjoy games like Minecraft and Stardew Valley. 🐣 - I live by the golden rule: treating others as I'd like to be treated. ⭐️ - I love food and learning how to cook! 🍳 In Singapore, I spent two enriching years as a Special Education Educator, with one year as a Form Teacher. I had the joy of working closely with children aged 6-9 on the autism spectrum that had to access Singapore’s mainstream syllabus. I have taught both academic and non-academic subjects such as Mathematics, Daily Living Skills and Social and Emotional Management. Through these enriching experiences, bolstered by extensive professional training and workshops, I've gained invaluable insights into effective class management, fostering positive behavioural support, implementing evidence-based ASD strategies, and honing a diverse toolkit for differentiated learning. But my passion for learning and growth led me to Australia! Currently, I’m taking a well-deserved break on a Working Holiday Visa in Australia, soaking in new experiences before pursuing a Masters in Teaching. While I’m in Australia, I'm doing casual Teaching Aide roles through Tradewind Australia, bringing my expertise and enthusiasm to Aussie classrooms. Here are some important certifications I have: - Working With Children Check. - Child Care First Aid - Bachelor of Computing in Information Systems (Honours) from National University of Singapore. Having interacted with numerous children, I've also had the privilege of engaging with just as many parents and guardians.
