Hi everyone! I’m Emma and I am a 26 year old Secondary School Teacher from Ireland. I have recently moved to Sydney and I am currently living in Coogee. I’ve been working as a teacher back home for four years and have experience teaching English, History as well as working as a member of a schools Special Educational Needs team. I love working with children and creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment for them that encourages creativity and the individual strengths of the students. Over the past couple of years, I have offered private academic tuition in Ireland and have helped children with literacy, numeracy, as well as both English and History. I am still providing that service over Skype and Microsoft Teams. I also have experience working with a child with special needs and provided home tuition for this child for two years. I love working with children and I have experience of looking after children of all ages, having done over ten years of babysitting and childminding back home. I have also completed my Working With Children’s Check as well as my NESA requirements. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Thank you☺️
My teaching career has offered me invaluable experience in an environment that deals widely with a variety of special needs within the classroom, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and ASD. I have also dealt with students of various cultural backgrounds with English being their second or additional language. As a result, my routine has involved daily liaisons with SNA's present in the class groups. As well as this, I have previously provided home tuition and assistance in English to a first-year child (Year 7) with special needs. This has proven to be very beneficial as it helped to further broaden my range of teaching skills and develop my understanding of the concepts surrounding special needs education and the English language. Here, we were working on prescribed material, written structure, as well as generating an approach to exam questions/exam style questions. SNA Experience In the months before arriving in Australia. I also gained experience as an Special Needs Assistant in Ashton School, Cork. Here, I was assigned to a number of students who required additional help in relation to homework, literacy, numeracy and various other factors. I accompanied these students to and from their classes and was always on hand to aid the students' needs throughout the course of their lessons. This provided me with invaluable experience and also offered me further opportunity to expand my skills on a one on one basis with the students.
I have over ten years experience in childminding and babysitting. Throughout the years, I have often looked after my younger cousins as well as neighbours’ children. I love looking after children and I am comfortable looking after all ages.
I have over five years experience as a tutor. I have previously provided home tuition and assistance in English to a first-year child (Year 7) with special needs. This has proven to be very beneficial as it helped to further broaden my range of teaching skills and develop my understanding of the concepts surrounding special needs education. I have also recently provided English assistance/grinds to a third-year student (Year 9). Here, we were working on prescribed curriculum material, written structure, as well as generating an approach to exam questions/exam style question. I am currently still providing tuition online to a sixth year student (Year 12) back home in Ireland. Here, we are working on an approach to the Leaving Certificate English exam and analysing several texts such as Shakespeare and prescribed poetry.
