Hello, I’m a teacher with 6 years experience teaching in high schools both in Ireland and Australia. I also have experience working with primary school kids and kids with special needs, through casual work in schools and also over 10 years of working in a variety of exports/activity camps both at home and in Oz. I also grew up as the second oldest in a family of 5 and the third oldest grandchild in a very close extended family with 25 grandkids. As a result I’ve been babysitting neighbours and cousins from the age of 14. I am well used to the task of caring for (and entertaining!) kids of all ages and I absolutely love it. A big reason for applying for this app is I really miss my cousins at home and miss interacting with them as regularly as I am used to. I am a PE and English teacher so I love being active and imaginative and I’m also experienced in a vast array of subjects (comes with casual teaching work!).
I’ve been helping to look after younger siblings and cousins from a very young age, and have been working as a babysitter from the age of 14 and a camp coach every summer from the age of 18. I’m comfortable with all ages, from infants to teenagers. I love babies and I’m well experienced with bottles, nappies, soothing etc. The main bulk of my babysitting work was with kids up to the age of 12/13 and between summer camps and teaching I’ve worked with kids from 4-18. I’m used to minding anything from one child up to five kids at a time.
I’ve been teaching full time since 2017. I worked in an all girls high school in Ireland for 5 years, before moving out to Oz in October 22 and have been casual teaching in Sydney ever since. I mainly teach PE and English but I have also taught geography, maths, religion and science noto various levels. I also had two different tutoring jobs for students who were unable to attend school back in Ireland. One was for a year 12 student, teaching her English, Business, Home Economics and Geography. She achieved high grades in all of these subjects but more importantly she worked really hard and I loved the chance to work one on one with a student who was finding school difficult, and seeing her improve and become more confident week-on-week. I also worked with a year 9 student teaching her English and Geography. Again, she achieved high grades in both of these in her state exams.
