Hello dear families! Thank you for visiting my profile. I'm a multi-passionate person and I strive to always keep my mind engaged, my heart open and my world large. Usually most of my time is taken up with creating performances, attending dance classes and preparing for events. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, I can't pursue those avenues for income. I'm currently working with a young family on Tuesdays and sometimes on Thursdays. I come from a Steiner educated background, having attended the Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School from the age of 3 until I graduated in 2010 from year 12. I have worked with children from 0 - 13y/o on and off for over 14 years and, as the eldest of 3, I was caring for my (not so) little brothers from an early age. I'm a dancer, choreographer, creater and singer. I run a Melbourne-based dance troupe as well as dancing with one other troupe and as a solo artist. I work annually as the assistant onsite operations manager for a 1500 person event, I've worked in hospitality for 9 years, as well as working as a petsitter and, of course, as a babysitter/nanny. I also a volunteer as a foster carer, looking after abandoned cats and kittens through a Melbourne-based animal rescue.
I have worked with children, from new born - 13, on and off for over 14 years and, as the eldest of 3, I was caring for my brothers from an early age. My child caring is very much intuitive-based. I try to always find ways of encouraging children to express their creativity. I love to create art from nature, be that painting pine cones, weaving sticks or drying flowers. These sorts of activities not only inspire creativity in the home, but they encourage children to be outside, collecting pine cones, flowers and bendy sticks to mold and create into something wonderfully theirs. I prefer for children not to be engaged in screen time when I am with them as I find that screens distract them from developing very valuable social, creative and imaginative skills, as well as self confidence and self belief.
I first began teaching dance at the age of 14 and I am currently the artistic director for a Melbourne-based dance troupe and I would absolutely love to step back into teaching dance to children! I've trained as a singer for about 11 years as well as learning many choir songs through my education. As a child, I loved absolutley singing and dancing and it would an honour to bring that joy into the lives of the next generation. At the age of 23 I lived in Germany for a year where I studied German fulltime for 6 months and then worked in a German speaking cafe as the head waitress for 6 months. I am confident in helping with children learning German as a second language. I began to read late in life, as is customary in a Steiner School, but it finally clocked I found myself reading 200 books a year! I would love to inspire children to read at least a quater as much as I did, thriugh reading to them or helping them to read.
