Special Needs Experience
Whilst working as a secondary school teacher, I have worked with students with various needs. This has ranged from students with dyspraxia to students with cerebral palsy. I have also worked with children with a wide variety of special education needs and know the need to differentiate tasks that are achievable for them.
Childcare Experience
I have worked as baby sitter for over 12 years. Over this time I have cared for children from 0-14, both during the day and overnight. I place major emphasis on getting to know the children I care for as I believe this is how they can gain the best from my time with them - knowing what activities they like makes the time far more enjoyable for all involved. Since qualifying as a teacher, I have also gained the skills to act as a tutor. I have a great understanding of the importance of differentiation so that children can access and understand information no matter what their ability. This can be done using the scaffolding method.
Tutoring Experience
I have a Professional Masters in Education - Business. This qualified me to teach Business, Accounting, Mathematics (up until age 15) and beginner to intermediate computer work (typing, use of Microsoft Suite etc). When teaching, groups could range from small (1-3 students) all the way up to large classes of 30 students. With this service students have excelled within these subject areas, improving by a minimum of 3 grades.
