Hey there! I am a full time University student originally from Perth, Western Australia. I moved to Melbourne at the beginning of 2022 for university and to attend residential college. I am starting my second year of univeristy, studying a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Melbourne, majoring in psychology and criminology. I have casually babysat for over a year now, mainly for family friends, having had much experience with younger children aged between two years and upwards. Activities I enjoy doing with the children have included going to the park, playing games, being outside in nature, reading, imaginative play and arts & crafts. My experience with children was further enriched when I volunteered at my local church for a kids holiday program for two years in a row. This involved supervising kids, assisting them in activities and ensuring that they were all accounted for. Therefore, I feel that this has equipped very well in being able to manage kids of all ages and has made me acutely aware of the attentional demands required to ensure that all kids are safe and happy. I have always loved working with children, their minds are so fascinating to me! Building a trustworthy and strong relationship that provides a sense of ease in their lives, is something I really value. I grew up with a multiple babysitters throughout my childhood and even though it didn’t seem like it at the time, they play such a critical role in your childhood experience. I do not have any formal tutoring experience, however, I have assisted children that I have babysat for with their homework or any areas of school that they found difficult (whether this be primary school or high school related). A fun fact about myself is that my family and I moved to Singapore to live for four years! This experience undoubtedly shaped me into the person i’am today- a very open minded and culturally aware person that is able to effectively communicate with all types of people, be empathetic and open to new experiences. Since a very young age I have always been very energetic, thus sports were a good outlet for me. I have played netball competitively for over 10 years as well as having umpired the sport as a job throughout high school, which has also given me additional experience with handling children. A few other interests of mine include travelling (pre-covid), going to music concerts and reading a good book! I have grown up with two older sisters as well as younger cousins around me and am very much a family orientated person. I can’t wait to meet you and your family in the near future!
