Hi all, my name is Teeka and I’m a Mum of 3 young boys. I currently work as a disability support worker, but I strive to be a special needs K-6 teacher. In the past I have been a foster parent and watching my foster child struggle and slip in the gaps of the education system hurt hard. I spent hours upon hours refreshing myself on the content and learning 3-5 different ways of being able to relay the content so she could comprehend it. In 2 short years I was able to bring her from a year 2 level to be ready to start her high school journey at above standard level and well above what she felt she could ever achieve herself. I feel confident in all areas of the k-6 curriculum and all core high school subjects.

Special Needs Experience
Currently working towards cert 4 in education support at tafe, to start special education teaching at une next trimester. I hold a peg feeding certificate, disability certificate and also have experience working alongside children with autism and mental health issues.
Childcare Experience
I’m a mum to 3 boys, 5,3 and 1. Before moving to Sydney last year for a job opportunity I was also a foster carer for 3 years to a sibling group of 3. I feel comfortable caring for all children 0-12, and am furthering my studies to become a k-6 special needs teacher.
Tutoring Experience
After tutoring my foster daughter extensively for two years to get her up to date with her studies, my sister approached me to develop her a learning plan for her to be able to homeschool while my dad battled cancer. I am 3/4s of the way through my cert IV in education support and will start my teaching degree next trimester once I have completed my certificate at TAFE. I have done internal tutoring through a NSW public school as a volunteer and parents sought me to tutor their children outside of school hours.
